Champion Bus was founded as Champion Home Builders in 1953, and entered the commercial bus business in 1981. Thor Industries acquired Champion Bus from Champion Enterprises of Auburn Hills, Michigan in February, 1988. Champion is located on 73 acres just outside Imlay City, MI, with nearly 200,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space. A primary employer in Lapeer County, Champion performs all manufacturing, engineering, compliance, research and development, aftermarket service, sales and marketing in its location near Imlay City. In 2013, Allied Specialty Vehicles (ASV) purchased Champion from Thor Industries.

In the last six years, Champion has more than doubled sales and production, and increased employment by over 50%. Champion now manufactures over 1200 commercial buses on an annual basis and employs nearly 300. Champion Buses are sold through a network of independently-owned dealers throughout the United States and Canada, and our reputation for quality products and service continues to grow.
